Where it's at

Scaling proven wins on a results-based, step-up retainer

The brief

What they needed

Limpopo Biltong came to us to get their website message right. They had a great product, but the site wasn’t communicating it in a way that pulled the right buyer in. Once the message landed, we built the sales funnel around it: Google and social campaigns to bring people in, and email integration and automation in Klaviyo to nurture them.
With traffic and a funnel in place, the question that mattered most for an e-commerce subscription business was the next one: how much more could the store earn from the visitors and subscribers it already had.
The challenge

Recurring revenue was leaking

The store was working, but revenue was slipping away in two places.
Buying more traffic to grow through those leaks would have been expensive. The bigger, cheaper opportunity sat in conversion and retention — earning more from the audience already there.
1

Subscribers were cancelling.

Many didn’t realise they could customise or edit their recurring orders, and the delivery options felt rigid — so they left rather than adjust.

2

Ready-to-buy visitors were dropping off.

Friction in the buying and checkout experience meant a share of people who came to buy never completed.

The approach

Grow revenue, not ad spend

Our approach is to grow revenue by optimising every part of the customer journey, not by spending more on ads. Across the engagement, Limpopo’s ad spend has never increased — the gains come from making the existing traffic and subscriber base work harder.
We work on an evidence-led footing: make a focused improvement, measure it against the benchmarks set by past performance, keep what moves the numbers, and build on it. Rather than a large fixed fee, we structured a step-up Revenue Accelerator retainer that starts at a foundation tier focused on tracking and quick wins, and steps up only once a defined revenue lift has been proven from the client’s own data. The risk is shared, and the investment grows with the results.
The work

Conversion and retention as the growth engine

Retention: keeping subscribers subscribed

We segmented the Klaviyo database by customer stage and built automated flows across the subscription journey — renewal, order confirmation, dispatch and delivery — that show subscribers how easily they can customise, edit or reschedule their PayWhirl orders, and remind new and repeat buyers why subscribing is worth it.

Conversion: focused improvements, measured against benchmarks

We improve the parts of the Shopify store that decide whether a visit becomes an order — product-configuration layout, reviews on product pages, a free-shipping incentive, the subscription experience, quick add-to-cart and checkout — and measure each change against the benchmarks set by past performance, keeping what moves the numbers. This runs alongside abandoned-cart recovery flows and targeted checkout fixes.

Measurement underneath

Advanced tracking and reporting turn every change into a clear read on what actually moved revenue, so each month’s work builds on evidence rather than opinion.
The results

A working store, now a growing one

The CRO work has become Limpopo’s growth engine: the store earns more from the same traffic, on the same ad budget, and keeps more of its subscribers. It’s proven out strongly enough that the engagement has stepped up as the results have come through.
You can’t scale advertising sustainably without first fixing the customer journey. With accurate data, the checkout issues become obvious — and so does the fix. No guesswork. Just cleaner data, sharper journey analysis, and evidence-led decisions. The data is already there. It just needs to be read correctly.
CPA dropped 42%, from £9 to £5. No increase in ad spend for 3 years — only a 5% lift to account for inflation. Key takeaway: Most businesses are sitting on revenue they don’t know they’re losing.
Conversion value increase
AdWords revenue grew 71%, from £245K to £420K+ (R540K to R913K+)
Total Shopify sales closed at £1.057M+ (R21M+) — 42% YoY growth against an initial 15% target

"Their insight and practical implementation were commendable. They have exceeded the expectation by far."
